Multi-mode Video Recorder app icon Multi-mode Video Recorder

Four ways to record, one simple camera for iPhone. Blackout keeps the screen dark while a clear recording indicator stays on, Level keeps the horizon straight when the phone tilts, Dual Capture records the front and back cameras together, and Blur softens the background behind people using on-device AI. Every recording stays in the app's own storage until you save it to Photos, share it, or delete it.

Privacy Policy

Quick Summary

Data that's NOT collected or shared

  • Your recordings: the video, the sound, and the thumbnails made from them (recorded and stored only on your iPhone until you choose to save or share them)
  • What the camera and microphone see and hear while you record, including the person detection used by Blur mode (processed on your device in real time, never uploaded)
  • Your Face ID, Touch ID, or passcode (the App only learns whether iOS unlocked the library; biometric data never leaves your device)
  • Your Personal Information (no account, and no name, email address, phone number, contacts, or location)

Data that is collected or shared

  • Anonymous usage statistics: app opens and, for each saved recording, the mode used and its rough length (Firebase Analytics; can be turned off in the App's Settings).
  • Device information like model, iOS version, language, and country.
  • Anonymous purchase status for validating your Pro access.
  • Approximate Location (inferred from your IP address by the services below when their SDKs connect; the App never uses GPS).

Third-party SDKs

  • Firebase Analytics for anonymous usage statistics (no Crashlytics or other Firebase products).
  • RevenueCat for in-app purchases.
  • No advertising SDK: the App shows no ads and never asks for tracking permission.

Data Collection, Sharing, and Retention

We generally do not collect, share, or retain any Personal Information on our servers. The App is designed to respect your privacy, and its whole job happens on your iPhone. The camera and microphone feeds are processed on the device in real time: Level mode rotates and crops the picture so the horizon stays straight, Dual Capture mode combines the front and back cameras into one picture, and Blur mode separates people from the background with Apple's on-device Vision framework and blurs only the background. Every finished Recording is written to the App's own storage on your device, where it stays until you decide otherwise. Recordings leave the App only when you choose to: tapping Save to Photos copies a Recording into your Photos library, and tapping Share hands it to the app or person you pick in the iOS share sheet. We never transmit, store, or share your Recordings, thumbnails, or anything the camera or microphone captures with any external servers or third parties.

We have implemented Firebase Analytics in this App to collect anonymous Usage Information (app opens, sessions, etc.) for understanding how the App is used and improving it. This data is collected automatically and does not include any Personal Information. The events recorded are limited to Firebase's standard app-open and session events and one event per saved Recording that notes the mode used (Blackout, Level, Dual, or Blur) and the rounded length in seconds; the content of the Recording is never part of it, and no user ID is set. Collection is switched off when the App starts and follows the "Share anonymous usage statistics" switch in the App's Settings, which is on by default and announced on the welcome screen; turn it off at any time to stop all further collection. The App does not include Firebase Crashlytics or any other Firebase product. Separately, if you have chosen to share analytics with app developers in your iPhone's privacy settings, Apple may provide us with crash logs and aggregated usage statistics for the App; Apple decides what is shared and anonymises it under its own privacy policy.

We do not share any data with third parties except for the anonymous Usage Information processed by Firebase Analytics and the anonymous purchase data processed by RevenueCat and Apple's App Store. These services are used strictly for usage statistics and purchase validation. When their SDKs connect to their servers, those servers see your device's IP address and may infer an Approximate Location from it; the App never uses GPS or asks for location permission.

We do not retain any data collected by the App. The Usage Information collected by Firebase Analytics is stored on Google's servers, and the purchase data on RevenueCat's servers, subject to their respective privacy policies.

Special Permissions & Device Features

To record videos in its four modes, Multi-mode Video Recorder uses the following iOS permissions and device features. All of them work on your device only:

  • Camera

Used to show the live preview and record your videos. Dual Capture mode uses the front and back cameras at the same time on iPhones that support it. The camera is only active while the App's camera screen is open; iOS shows its green indicator whenever the camera is in use. Nothing from the camera leaves your device.

  • Microphone

Used to record sound with your videos. You can choose the microphone with the system input picker (built-in, AirPods, or a USB microphone) or mute it; iOS shows its orange indicator while the microphone is in use. The App has no speech recognition, and it never listens when its camera screen is not open.

  • Photos (add only)

Asked for the first time you tap Save to Photos. It is add-only access: the App can place a copy of a Recording in your Photos library but cannot see, read, or change anything that is already in it.

  • Face ID / Touch ID

Used only if you turn on the library lock in the App's Settings. The App then asks iOS to verify you with Face ID, Touch ID, or your passcode before showing your Recordings; it receives only a yes or no from iOS and never sees your biometric data or your passcode.

  • Motion sensors (Core Motion)

Level mode reads the direction of gravity from your iPhone's motion sensors about sixty times a second to rotate the picture so that the horizon stays level. The readings are used instantly and are never stored or sent anywhere. iOS does not require a permission prompt for this.

  • On-device person detection (Vision)

Blur mode runs Apple's person segmentation on each frame to tell people apart from the background and blur only the background. This happens entirely on your iPhone's processor: no frame is sent anywhere, nothing is saved from it, and the App does not recognise or identify who is in the picture.

  • Blackout mode

Turns the screen black while recording but always shows a recording indicator with the elapsed time, which cannot be hidden; a double tap brings the controls back. It does not change the screen brightness and does not record anything differently from the other modes.

  • Network & purchases (StoreKit, Firebase, RevenueCat)

The App itself makes no network calls. Internet access is used only by Firebase Analytics (usage statistics, if enabled) and by RevenueCat and Apple's StoreKit to load prices and validate your Pro purchase.

The App does not ask for location, contacts, calendar, Bluetooth, local-network, or tracking (App Tracking Transparency) permission, does not use the Advertising Identifier, and runs no background activity: a recording in progress is stopped and saved when you leave the App or lock your iPhone.

On-Device Storage

Multi-mode Video Recorder stores the following on your iPhone, inside the App's own sandboxed container that other apps cannot read: your Recordings as QuickTime (.mov) video files (HEVC by default, or H.264 if you choose it in Settings), next to a small metadata file for each Recording with its date, length, mode, frame shape, pixel size, file size, and video format; a JPEG thumbnail for each Recording in the App's cache folder; and your preferences in the App's settings store (frame shape, last mode, selfie mirroring, Level zoom, blur strength, the Blackout options, hardware-button sounds, outer-display preview, Dual picture shape, flash, HDR, video format, resolution, frame rate, whether the library lock is on, whether you have finished the welcome screen, and your "Share anonymous usage statistics" choice) together with a cached copy of your Pro status so that Pro works offline. There is no database, and nothing is stored outside the App's container unless you save a Recording to Photos or share it.

How it is used: The Recordings and thumbnails make up your in-app library; the settings restore your choices the next time you open the App.

Privacy Guarantee: Recordings and their metadata are protected with iOS complete data protection, which keeps them encrypted whenever your iPhone is locked. They are never uploaded, transmitted, or shared with us or any third party; they leave your device only when you save or share them yourself.

Device backups: iOS backups (iCloud Backup or a backup made with a computer) include an app's documents and settings. Your Recordings and settings are therefore part of your iPhone backup unless you turn the App off in your iPhone's iCloud Backup settings; thumbnails live in the cache folder and are never backed up. Backups are encrypted and managed by Apple under Apple's privacy policy, and a Recording that you saved to Photos is additionally covered by your Photos and iCloud Photos settings.

Data Storage & Deletion

Because your Recordings and settings are stored locally on your device, you have complete control over your data.

You can delete any Recording at any time with the Delete button in the App's library or player; deleting removes the video file, its metadata file, and its thumbnail from the App. Deleting a Recording in the App does not delete a copy you saved to Photos, and deleting it from Photos does not delete it from the App: each copy is removed from the place you delete it in. Deleting the App from your iPhone permanently removes all Recordings, thumbnails, settings, and the cached Pro status in one go; copies in Photos, in apps you shared to, and in your iPhone backups are not affected. Your Pro purchase is tied to your Apple Account and can be restored after reinstalling. To withdraw the App's camera, microphone, or Photos access, use the App's entry in your iPhone's Settings.

Indian Data Protection (DPDP Act, 2023)

This App can be used by anyone, including users in India. India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act) gives you rights over your digital personal data. This section explains how the App relates to that law.

  • What we do not hold

We do not collect or store Personal Information such as your name, email address, or phone number on our servers, and we never receive your Recordings.

  • What is processed

The Usage Information, device information, and anonymous purchase data described in this policy are processed by Firebase Analytics, RevenueCat, and Apple's App Store for usage statistics and purchase validation. Some of this data may be treated as personal data under the DPDP Act.

  • Your rights

You can ask for a summary of the personal data being processed and who it is shared with, ask for it to be corrected, completed, updated, or erased, withdraw any consent you have given, nominate another person to exercise your rights on your behalf, and raise a grievance with us.

  • How to use your rights

You can turn off "Share anonymous usage statistics" in the App's Settings at any time, delete individual Recordings in the App, and delete the App to remove everything it stored on your device. For any request or grievance, email us at [email protected]. We will respond as soon as we reasonably can and within the time limits set by law. If you are not satisfied with our response, you have the right to complain to the Data Protection Board of India.

  • In-app purchases

In-app purchases are processed through Apple's App Store, which is governed by Apple's policies. The App Store does not share any Personal Information with us, the developers.

  • Children

Under the DPDP Act, a child is anyone under the age of 18. Please see the Children's Privacy section of this policy.

European Privacy Rights (GDPR and UK GDPR)

This App can be used by anyone, including users in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, and Switzerland. If you live in one of these regions, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and equivalent local laws give you specific rights. This section explains what is processed, why, and how you stay in control.

  • Who is responsible

Chaska For You is responsible for the App and is your point of contact for privacy requests. Our service providers (Firebase Analytics and RevenueCat) process data on our behalf under their own privacy policies, and Apple processes your purchases as the operator of the App Store.

  • What is processed and why

While the App itself does not ask for your name or email, it does process an app-instance identifier, the vendor identifier of your device, and usage statistics through Firebase Analytics, with your consent, to understand how the App is used; and an anonymous App User ID and your purchase history through RevenueCat to validate your purchases, which is necessary to provide Pro to you.

  • Your consent for usage statistics

Usage statistics are sent only while the "Share anonymous usage statistics" switch in the App's Settings is on. The welcome screen tells you about it before you start, and you can turn the switch off at any time, which withdraws your consent for all further collection.

  • Your rights

You have the right to access your data, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to its processing, to receive it in a portable format, and to withdraw your consent at any time. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

  • International transfers

Our service providers may process data on servers outside your country, including in the United States. They rely on the safeguards described in their own privacy policies, such as Standard Contractual Clauses.

  • Retention

We do not keep copies of this data ourselves. It is retained by the service providers for the periods described in their privacy policies.

  • How to use your rights

Email us at [email protected] and tell us which App and which right your request is about. We will respond within the time limits required by law, normally within one month.

In-App Purchases

All in-app purchases are processed through Apple's App Store (StoreKit), which is governed by Apple's policies. Video Recorder Pro is offered as a weekly or yearly auto-renewing subscription or as a one-time lifetime purchase, and it removes the 5-minute limit on each recording. Payments are charged to your Apple Account. Subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel them at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and you can manage or cancel them in your iPhone's Settings under your Apple Account and Subscriptions.

To securely manage your Pro access, this App uses a third-party service called RevenueCat. RevenueCat receives the App Store purchase receipt, validates it with Apple, and keeps your purchase history and unlock status under an anonymous App User ID that is stored on your device. Neither Apple nor RevenueCat shares any personally identifiable information (like your name, Apple Account, or payment details) with us.

Advertisements

This App contains no advertisements and includes no advertising SDK. It does not use the Advertising Identifier (IDFA), never asks for tracking permission, and does not track you across other companies' apps or websites.

Children's Privacy (COPPA, GDPR and DPDP)

This App is made for a general audience. It is not directed at children, and it is not intended for use by children under the age of 13.

  • No data knowingly collected from children

We do not knowingly collect Personal Information from children, and the App does not ask for a name or email address.

  • Age limits around the world

In the United States, the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) protects children under 13. In the EEA and the UK, the age of digital consent is between 13 and 16 depending on the country. In India, the DPDP Act treats anyone under 18 as a child. If you are below the applicable age where you live, please use the App only with the permission and supervision of a parent or guardian.

  • No ads, no tracking

The App shows no advertisements, never asks for tracking permission, and does not build any profile of its users, so children are not exposed to ad content or ad targeting through it.

  • For parents and guardians

If you believe your child has shared Personal Information through the App, email us at [email protected] and we will look into it promptly and help you with the next steps. You can also turn off "Share anonymous usage statistics" in the App's Settings and delete the App, which removes everything it stored on the device, at any time.
