How to Get an Alert When Your Android Phone Is Fully Charged

You plug in, walk away, and come back two hours later to a phone that finished charging ninety minutes ago. A simple "it's done" alert would fix that, and Android still does not have one.

What Android offers today

Stock Android shows the charging percentage on the lock screen and nothing else. Some brands add a sound when charging completes, and a few, like Samsung with Protect battery or Pixels with charging optimization, can stop at 80 or 85 percent, which is a different feature. None of them will get your attention from across the room.

Why a notification is not enough

A full-charge notification is one quiet ping among dozens. If the phone is on silent, in another room, or face down, you will not hear it. For an alert to work it has to be loud, persistent and obviously different from a message.

Make the phone call you when it is charged

Battery Call turns battery events into a ringing, full-screen call. When the battery reaches 100 percent, or any upper limit you set, the phone rings with a familiar incoming-call screen until you answer it, even when notifications are silenced. It runs entirely on the device.

  1. Install Battery Call and allow notifications, full-screen alerts and the alarm permission it asks for; those are what let it ring over other apps.
  2. Turn on Full charge alert, or set a custom upper limit such as 90 percent.
  3. Pick the ringtone and vibration you want.
  4. Plug in. When the target is reached, the phone rings; swipe to answer and the call ends.

Battery-saver settings that can block alerts

  • Exclude Battery Call from battery optimisation so Android does not put it to sleep.
  • On Xiaomi, Oppo and similar phones, allow autostart for the app.
  • Keep Do Not Disturb set to allow alarms, or add an exception for the app.

Frequently asked questions

Does the alert work when the phone is on silent?

Yes. The alert uses the alarm channel and a full-screen call interface, so it rings like an alarm even in silent mode, unless Do Not Disturb blocks alarms.

Will it drain my battery?

No. The app only listens for charging changes that Android reports; it does not poll in the background.

Can I get an alert at 80 percent instead of 100?

Yes. Set any upper limit. See the guide on stopping at 80 percent.
